Answer to the question, "What are you doing now? What is a Stock Movie Company? The Stock Movie Company began with an idea and has grown into a working group of actors and technical production professionals who combine their skills and multi-task to create movies. Rodger Marion wanted to create a group of Wimberley residents dedicated to making films. He talked with Lee Coleé, voice coach and talent agent, and she suggested a class for actors who want to become filmmakers. And so was born a new way to make films. The process includes: holding open auditions for actors, selecting the very best, and having weekly classes to produce an original film.
During 2009, the Stock Movie Company wrote and produced a successful short film, Wine Bar of the Mind. The group developed the story; wrote the script; helped in pre-production; were the actors, served as crew; and were involved in editing, marketing, and distribution. The film was shot in August 2009 at locations in Wimberley. The cast includes: Paloma Bermudez, John Daws, Carla Daws, Melinda Ellisor, Gina McClure, with supporting roles for Parker Crowley, Allan Eastwood, Diane Hruska, Sheri Fowlie, and Scott Wade. Technical skills provided by Lee Coleé, Marvin Niebuhr, Kim Christoff, Morgan Marion, and Rodger Marion. The finished film has been entered into local film festivals and distributed by Amazon.com.
In 2010, we will do it all over again. The SMC members are developing a new film with production planned for Summer 2010. New actors will be chosen for a new class, the Actor's Filmmaking Workshop. |
